Skeptic Finds Power in Essential Oils

Now I know why Frankincense was one of the three gifts given to the baby Jesus by the three Wise Men along with Gold and Myrrh. Not a coincidence at all. Very likely as valuable as Gold was then and is now.

If you have only one Essential Oil to try or have in your medicine cabinet, or if you don't know what oil to use to achieve any given health benefit, let it be Frankincense! I have heard it spoken about with reverence in workshops, I have read about it in books and on line, but not until I tried it for myself, did I understand, and believe, its immense power!

Two things sold me. . .

After researching its use, even in the medical world . . . shown to help fight cells of specific types of cancer that have become resistant to chemotherapy. . . I decided to try it on my non-melanoma skin cancer called squamous cell carcinoma, located on my forehead at the hairline. It has been there for several years, diagnosed by my dermatologist as nothing to worry about; and if I ever wanted removed, he would do as he had previously done with a basal cell carcinoma, by mohs surgery. . . removed only because it was smack dab in the middle of my forehead!

Well, I dabbed a drop on the area of therapeutic-grade (only one to use for health benefits) frankincense oil from Young Living, recommended by a friend who has been using the brand for many years. Continued to do same for the next several nights, and am now watching what was once a scaly, discolored spot, slowly start to mellow down and maybe eventually, will disappear. Am now using on all the 'sun spots' or discolored area on my face, since I researched and found it is excellent for the treatment of acne, is anti-inflammatory, anti-bacterial, an astringent, and slows signs of aging. And that's only the skin benefits!

Also read of its use in calming the brain and its activity, and its use by many patients with seizure disorders. Since my daughter is a person with severe autism and has occasional seizures, usually brought on by overstimulation and increased brain activity and stress, naturally I was excited by this news. While visiting with me recently over Mother's Day weekend, Jessica woke at 3 in the morning very agitated, making loud piercing noises, similar to those she makes when exhibiting pre-seizure hyperactivity. Without another thought, I reached for the frankincense bottle, allowing her to inhale the scent for the next minute or two. She calmed down and went back to sleep! Amazing! Needless to say, frankincense is now part of my first-aid kit.

If any of this makes sense to you and you are interested in exploring the benefits for yourself, I highly recommend you visit YoungLiving.com, click 'Becoming a Member' (only way to peruse the site), choose potential 'retail customer' (does not obligate you), or, if you are serious about using oils regularly and want to purchase wholesale, choose 'Member'. No matter your choice, check box 'I was referred by a member and have their ID numbers', enter my ID# 3643498 anywhere you see Enroller ID# or Sponsor ID#. I appreciate your support as I am eventually building funding for JessicasJourneys.org (see The Autism Advocate tab on this site for more information).

As always, eager for your questions or comments.

In gratitude, Kathy
